Hi everyone, I know I said the previous post would be the last before I go on holiday, but I decided to migrate the site to Neocities so I think it's import I explain myself! Back in April, when the site was new, I hosted Chuoline for a short time here on Neocities before quickly moving to Nekoweb. For numerous reasons, I decided it would be best to move back to Neocities. These are mostly for personal reasons, and will have little affect on you as the reader :) What's changed???Not much. As this is mostly a logistical change, you the reader won't notice much different :) The url is now "chuoline.neocities.org" and thats really the only major change. The old URL now points to here instead, so visitors to the old site shouldn't get lost. I've carried over the viewcounts from the Nekoweb site, so the viewcount displayed on Neocities may not reflect the view count on the site (but it is still real I'm not faking!). Why did you migrate again???I had a number of problems with Nekoweb and I felt that Neocities might be better to use. To be honest, back in April when I first moved to Nekoweb, I did so mostly on a whim. I preferred the UI over there (and to be honest I still do) and I liked the smaller community (because I felt my Neocities site was getting too many views for how empty it was back then). I should say that I'm not hating on Nekoweb, it's a great service but I feel that Neocities is better for Chuoline. Anway, here are my main reasons for moving: 1. Small community on Nekoweb - Since the topic of Chuoline is very niche, I felt like no one else on Nekoweb had an interest in indiepop other than me lol. This is understandable for a small commuinity. Whilst I don't care about views/hits, I do want some people to read my posts and it was much harder to reach people via Nekoweb. Neocities has a much bigger userbase, so it is more likely that someone who is intrested will come across it that way (of course onsite discovery features aren't the only way to find a site, but I can't rely on webrings and fanlistings sadly) 2. So many personal sites!! - Nekoweb's userbase seems to be more intrested in personal sites rather than hobby/interest sites. This isn't a bad thing, indie web is amazing because you get to make whatever you want! But I think Chuoline fits in better on Neocities because there is more hobby sites on here. 3. More popfans on here! - Kind of similar to the first one but there is a couple of active indie popsites on here so it's nice to be with them :) That's all! Again, no hate to Nekoweb it just wasn't right for this site :) If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer via email - chuolinemail@proton.me. See you again when I get home from Spain! |
